Let’s be honest there are just some tasks that seem like an absolute waste of time. And when you’re a mum these tasks are usually an absolute logistical NIGHTMARE!
So, I thought I’d let you in on my 4 time (and money) saving hacks to making those draining and mundane tasks a little easier!
Going to the Post Office
Possibly one of the worst tasks ever when you have kids. I cannot think of anything worse than standing in line with 2 x toddlers just to pick up parcels.
But I really want my online order – damn it!
Well, if you check on the Australia Post website, there is actually multiple pick-up and delivery options – one of which is to set up an authorised person to pick up your packages – make the husband do it 😉
Otherwise I have all my packages sent to my husband’s work as there is always someone there 9-5, and he brings them home for me that night!
Doing the Grocery Shopping
Even with their free fruit offering for kids, nothing is really going to make food shopping with toddlers a pleasant experience. It takes about five times longer and you end up with multiple items that were not on your list, but result in tantrums if removed.
So why don’t you just shop online? Oh, it’s more expensive you say? Nope!
If you factor in the time you spent shopping, the hair you lost while doing it and the additional items you impulse bought – shopping online works out significantly cheaper.
We meal plan and buy accordingly, then bam! It’s at my front door. I think our shops have worked out about $50 cheaper a week by doing this (including the delivery fee) and more time spent doing things the kids and I want to do!
Filling Up with Fuel
Remember when I said I can think of nothing worse, especially with kids?! Yup well, I found something worse!
Filling up with fuel is by far the worst task ever. You’ve got to haul the kids out of the car, make sure they don’t cause havoc running across the forecourt, and once you’re in the shop they want to grab every single thing that’s positioned perfectly in front of little faces loaded with alllllll the sugar!!
OMG are you stressed out just thinking about it?
Well, now thanks to some genius at BP HQ there is an app to save you all that stress! You can now simply fill your car, pay via the app on your phone and drive off!
OMG LIFE CHANGING!!
The BPme app is free to download and available for smartphone users with iOS and/or Android. Not to mention if can be used at over 600 participating BP sites across Australia, with more being added weekly. The app is so simple to use and allows secure payment via Visa, Mastercard, AMEX and even PayPal.
Simply pull up at the BP pump, turn off the engine and launch the BPme app. You confirm the pump number and payment method from within the closed vehicle. Leave the phone in the car while you fill up, pop back in the car and you’re good to go!
Wait what, the kids are still asleep? There is a god!
Wait you iron your clothes? That was your first mistake.
I’ll be honest I used to iron EVERYTHING, right down to socks and undies – then I had kids! Ain’t nobody got time for that. Still, I do get really annoyed looking at a wrinkled shirt or a dress, especially if it’s for a nice outing.
Best thing I ever did was buy a portable clothes steamer. Means I can quickly de-wrinkle anything when I need it and not slave over a hot iron for hours!
