From Christmas to the Back-To-School rush. It’s safe to say the last six weeks is an absolute blur for most mums – am I right?! We’ve barely had time to recover from the chaos of the holidays and now it’s back to the grind!
So with all these ‘balls in the air’ and endless to-do lists, it can be easy to forget about ourselves and put ourselves as priority at the bottom of that list!
But as they say ‘you cannot pour from an empty cup’ so it’s super important to take a little bit of time just for you! Just a little bit of ‘me-time’ can really make a world of difference!
It doesn’t have to be lavish and expensive. I know for a lot of people finding a large portion of time or funds (on top of the guilt you feel as a mum) is hard enough. But you can do little things to have a recharge of the batteries, clear your mind and bring a little joy.
Go To A Gym Class
These days I think most gyms have a gym creche for mid morning classes. Seriously book your kids in, jump on the bike for a sweaty RPM session or roll out a mat for some Pilates and just do something for you, even if it’s 45 minutes, once a week! You’ll feel worlds better with those endorphins pumping.
Have A Bath
It sounds so simple, but really how often to we take the time to just soak into a nice hot bath? Even just adding a few little bits like a couple of scented candles, a nice bath soak and a glass of wine and you’ve got my idea of heaven! *For extra effect hide the bath toys 😉
Buy A Book
I’m joking right? Books? When you’re a mum? Funny joke! But seriously, just buy a book, not 20! And commit to ten minutes when you go to bed, or even ten minutes before the kids wake up?! And you’ll be surprised how quick you get through it!
Have A ‘Mum Date’ Night
So this doesn’t have to be getting all dolled up and hitting the town. This can literally just be inviting your best friend over after the kids have gone to bed, with a bottle of Prosecco and two McFlurry’s while catching up on the latest episode of the Kardashians!
Just Sit And Chill
Getting some me time doesn’t even have to be about ‘doing’ stuff sometimes. It can just be sitting down on the couch, with a hot cup of tea and mag or even an Instant Scratch-Its Crosswords game. Even if it’s just a few minutes when the babies are asleep in the day. Forget the chores, leave the dishes, the floor can be vacuumed later. Just CHILL!!!!
