When I was first asked to jump on board as an ambassador for the Carman’s Women’s Fun Run, my first thought honestly was “But I can’t run?!” I then quickly realised that wasn’t the point, and that just like breast cancer – which can affect any woman regardless of her age or physical capabilities – this was an event for all women!
Having sadly felt the impact breast cancer can have on someone through both family members and friends, I of course took this fantastic opportunity and jumped on board to help raise money to support the Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA) and Australians affected by breast cancer.
In Australia, Breast cancer is the most common cancer impacting women. In 2016, it is estimated that 16,000 people will be diagnosed with breast cancer. This means on average, 44 people will be diagnosed with breast cancer every single day.
The BCNA works to ensure that Australians affected by breast cancer receive the very best support, information, treatment and care appropriate to their individual needs.
When I participate in the Carman’s Women’s Fun Run on the 4th of December, not only will I be taking part in the 5km, but I have also got the whole family involved – with my MIL taking on the half marathon and Annabelle running the Girls Mini (a 500m dash).
And if you’re worried about your staying power, then don’t! Because you can run, jog or walk and there is even an option for those wanting to pop the kids in the pram and run! There is honestly something for everyone, making it a great day out for the family!
And if you want to join our team, you’re more than welcome! I have created an open team so anyone can join – https://carmanswfr2016.everydayhero.com/au/olivia-white
You can also refer your friends for an opportunity to go into the draw to win a FIAT 500! For more information on how to enter visit the Carman’s Women’s Fun Run website here – http://carmanswomensfunrun.com.au/winafiat/
