As a young girl, my mum and I would always go on little road trips throughout Victoria. This is one of my fondest childhood memories, travelling to all these amazing places that were right in our backyard.
I am a firm believer that no travel opportunity or experience is a waste, no matter how near or far you go or how you get there. You don’t have to be rich to live a life rich life!
For a long time now, I’ve been dreaming of visiting Cactus Country – basically a giant theme park full of beautiful Cacti! So, to see that the resort was only a five minutes journey down the road we were super excited to tick that of our bucket list.
We stayed in a two-bedroom apartment, which had ample space for myself and the girls. As well as a full set of amenities to make holidays easy as a family – like washing machine (yes, I do my washing on holidays), dishwasher and a full-sized fridge.
Of course, within minutes of arriving the girls demanded we check out the swimming pool, which looked like a giant kid’s oasis! The RACV Cobram Resort is a fantastic resort for families as it has dozens of activities and amenities for kids both big and small.
There is also tones to do around the area. We spent our first morning out at Cactus Country, which was everything we dreamed of and more. And once you’ve finished they have margaritas on tap, so you can cool down and refresh!
We then headed to a small locally winery, after our arrival bottle at the resort was so delish we had to make sure we grabbed some to take home. Monichino Winery is only about 15 minutes from Cobram and is a perfect setting for an afternoon picnic with the family, and a glass of their amazing Pinot Grigio.
We also stopped in at The Big Strawberry for some delicious Strawberry ice-cream, milkshakes and pancakes. This one is a must-do for kids as there is a massive play area to keep them entertained so you can enjoy your super works pancakes all to yourself.
There are also some great spots for a feed, but as an excuse to head over the border and say we’d been ‘interstate’ we headed to the Cobram Barooga Golf Club. Really good food and relaxed atmosphere which was great with a young family. All overlooking the picturesque golf course, with a bit of room spotting for the girls.
We absolutely loved our time out north and only wish we had longer as there was still quite a few places we had hoped to get to. There is no shortage of fun things to do for the family that’s for sure. But also, the resort alone provides hours of fun for the whole family with the amazing swimming pools and play areas for kids.
