I doubt there is a mother alive who isn’t that tiny bit anxious when setting off on long journeys with little ones. As a mother of a car screamer myself, car trips can be a very stressful and brain-piercing time if not done correctly. So I thought I would share my tips for saving your sanity and keeping quiet on long car rides.
This isn’t even a last resort, it’s where I start!
iPad? Sure thing, here ya go.
Lollipops? There was a special if I bought 5 take them all!!
Drive through Maccas chips? Let’s all get some!
I’ll give you a pony if you just let me strap you in, pleaseeeeeee!!
It really is a no brain-er, making sure you’ve got the essentials for a long journey. We all know the mum wagon is like a second home to the family, so make sure you look after her as well. Fit her with some of Goodyear’s new EfficientGrip Performance SUV tyres, guaranteed to deliver a quieter ride. Equipped with QuietTred Technology, these tyres can really help keep your car noise to a minimum. Their advanced noise dampening tread design lowers noise generation, providing for superior quiet performance throughout the tyre’s life span. Because as every parent knows, life is loud enough. 😉
I always try and plan a long drive around when the girls need to sleep. Nothing says silence like a sleeping baby #bliss
Keeping a bag full of snacks is an absolute must! Ready to be handed back to whining kids. Just not sultanas, because those are guaranteed to end up all over the floor, in the car seat, in between the seats – you name it, those little suckers will find their way all through your car!
Send in the Troops
Usually any longer trips will involve both dad and I on the journey. I’m not really game enough to travel too far with Teddy aka The Car Scream Queen solo, so dad gets banished to the back seat for toddler entertainment.
Now this is actually my last resort. I can only ‘do the propeller’ so many times. But if it’s a choice between Teddy screaming the car down and Hot Potato – we know what wins!
I hope that maybe one of these tips comes in useful, because as a mother of young kids, getting out and about is a necessity. But, I can absolutely feel your pain when it comes to the Def Con 1, red faced, toes curling scream that is a child who hates the car!
I’d love to know your secrets too if you have any more to add? I need everything I can get 😉
We recently took a trip with Goodyear Tyres, check out what myself and other mums had to say below!
