When I brought my baby girl home for the first time, I felt an overwhelming number of emotions! I was full of joy, excitement, and fear, but one of the most constant feelings during those early days and weeks of motherhood was loneliness.
It was all unchartered territory for me, and being a younger mum I didn’t have too many friends around me who I felt I could go to. And felt that these feelings I had couldn’t be normal, because isn’t motherhood supposed to be the happiest time of your life? *Oh, so naïve pet*
A huge part of why I began my blog and social platforms was to connect and share with other mothers, who I soon realised were going through similar things, feeling the same way and it was comforting to know that we were all on the ‘not-so-cruisy liner’ that is motherhood, together!
So, when I heard about a fantastic new app called “Mush”, a free and simple resource that helps mums connect with other local and like-minded mums in their area – it’s safe to say I was pretty darn excited!
Going far beyond a traditional parents group, where you’re lumped together with a bunch of people because you just happened to have a baby at the same time. Mush enables people to a profile that allows you to describe yourself, mum self, and you as an individual so that you can make connections with other mums who have similar interests.
Yes, I know what you are thinking right now and you are correct – it is exactly like a Tinder for Mums! Millionaire Match Maker? Yup! Only it’s free!!!!
You can basically put anything you like! Wine lover? Yes, I think we can totes be friends 😊 Let’s go catch up for a child-free dinner, a vino and have an adult conversation! It’s not just about playdates for the kids 😉
There are also some other great resources within the app like your mush hub, which lets you see what’s going on near you, from mums looking to sell their pram to local playgroups, so you’re never out of the loop!
There are also mush guides, which are written by mums for mums, a non-judgemental, not too serious collection of guides that give a helping and supportive (and funny) perspective on everything from breastfeeding to when it’s OK to start drinking!
Having gone through the loneliness and isolation that motherhood can so commonly bring, so having Mush at my fingertips already makes me feel stronger, better connected, supported and more empowered.
I have already met some fantastic other mothers via this app, and many of them tell me how fantastic they think it is too! I would highly recommend all mums to have Mush downloaded on their phone, because you honestly don’t know who you might meet! And it could change your life, and theirs!
