So it’s safe to say that May is my favourite month of the year! Why you ask? Well that’s because both my birthday and Mother’s Day fall within the same month (sometimes the same day) so I claim May as my month!
Since having my girls, Mother’s Day has become one of my favourite days on the calendar! It’s not so much about what you get, but the thought and effort that goes in behind it. I love the handmade cards my girls create at daycare, the fun they have with their dad making a special breakfast, and the little ‘awww’ moment you have when you see what they’ve gotten you, because without fail each year it’s something ‘so me’ even though I claim every time there is nothing I want or need!
A tradition in our household has become magazine subscriptions – something five years ago I’d have scoffed at but, of course now as a mum, consider such a special gift. The notion of something that encourages me to put my feet up with a cuppa and have some ‘me-time’ is a winner in my eyes!
This year’s favourite has been Better Homes & Gardens, as we’ve been renovating our house and recently started landscaping the backyard. So I guess you could said they ‘hit the nail on the head’ with that one (sorry for the dad joke).
And I think they know me all too well cause I’m partial to a cheeky gossip magazine to enjoy over a wine or snuggled up on the couch!
The best thing about a gift like this is that it’s not just on the day, but is literally a ‘gift that keeps giving’ for the year to come! And it’s so easy to do, with just the click of a button on the Australia Post online store, you can have it delivered to your door, or to your mum’s 😉
In fact, Australia Post has Mother’s Day pretty wrapped up, offering some other great options including floral arrangements, gift cards and hampers! So they’ve taken all the hard work off your hands.
I’ve already organised a Women’s Health subscription for my mum this year (mum if you’re reading this, sorry I spoiled it – you still love me right?!). It pays to be organised because trust me no one wants side-eye from mum when you forget – we all know the look!
This has been a sponsored collaboration with Australia Post. However, we do not work with and endorse anything we do not love and use ourselves. But seriously, who doesn’t love a good magazine to indulge in!
