She capturing the hearts of Australia as one half of the loveable and stylish duo “Bec and George” on The Block Sky High. I caught up with Bec to talk about their exciting projects since the show, her journey to becoming a mum and what her and George are excited most about being parents!
Since your time on The Block, both George and yourself have had some super exciting projects. One of which is the launch and wild success of your blog, ‘Bec Marks the Spot’. Can you tell us a little bit about it?
We have worked really hard on our careers and creating a positive step I the right direction of where we want to be. I started Bec Marks the Spot as a way to still connect with people. It is a great place where I can share all that I love. We also have a successful design and construction business Empire of Style which was born from the success and also requests for styling works through Bec Marks the Spot.
You’ve been open about you struggles to conceive. Can you tell us a little bit about your journey and what it was like when you found you were finally pregnant?
We have had a very busy last few years and I still don’t know to this day if stress played a role in my trouble conceiving and also keeping a baby but it wasn’t until we actually stopped and finished filming and building that I actually fell pregnant and now we are completely besotted with the fact we are finally going to be a family after 12 years together.
What have you been most surprised by throughout your pregnancy?
The female body is a pretty amazing thing and I am been more surprised with just how much it changes. Pregnancy is so much more than your belly growing!
What has your relationship with your body been like since becoming pregnant?
I had a very tough pregnancy the first 16 weeks, so I lost a lot of weight, which was hard to understand because I knew I was pregnant, but I have just been trying my best to listen to my body and what it needs. When I am tired I put my feet up, when I am hungry I eat and I make sure I am looking after myself.
You spent much of your second trimester travelling North America on your baby-moon! How did you go travelling while pregnant?
We had a trip to America planned at the start of the year so we asked our OBGYN if it was something we could still do and he gave us the all clear. I was fine travelling, I made sure I wore comfortable shoes and drank heaps of water and when I didn’t feel up to walking around we enjoyed our hotel room. It was a great trip and I am happy we enjoyed it before the baby arrives.
As you near your little ones due date, what are your last minute mummy indulgences you plan to try squeeze in?
I have all ready started to get fortnightly pregnancy massages which have not only been a treat but very beneficial for my back pain. I would love to get a pedicure closer to my due date as I can’t paint my toes anymore!
What are you most excited for about life with your little one?
I am just so excited to create memories and give my child an amazing childhood like I had. I had a beautiful relationship with my mother that I absolutely cherished from a very young age, it’s exciting to think that I can hopefully bring the same joy to my child
And I’m sure I’m not alone when I say I’m dying to see what you’ve done for Baby Douros nursery. Can you give as an idea of what you have planned?
We have just finished Baby Douros’s nursery and it will be revealed in the coming weeks! I have to say it is my favourite space I have created to date!
