This weekend just been I had a little ‘baby sprinkle’ for our littlest babe. I’m not really sure about the hard and fast rules around having a shindig are for anything other than your first baby, but I didn’t want this little one to miss out just because she wasn’t born first 😉
My gorgeous girlfriend Kimberley offered to put together something for me and as always went above and beyond to create such a beautiful day. Rather than having dozens of friends, I asked Kim for something small, just a few close friends – no presents or no corny games, just my nearest and dearest for a nice afternoon lunch or something, hence ‘baby sprinkle’ rather than shower!
I also wanted to put together a little something for my girlfriends as a thank-you for being such an amazing part of our daughter lives. Even though none of my girlfriends are yet to have babies of their own, our friendships have never changed or faltered because of it and each one of them play such a huge role in our girls lives.
I thought it was a lovely opportunity to ask four of my closest girlfriends (one lives on the GC so couldn’t make it) to be ‘Fairy Godmothers’. The idea was to have a more modern version of godparents without the religious aspect. Think for sneaking them for tattoos and taking them shopping for bra’s, than making sure they go to church 😉
I had cute little personalised candles made up by the lovely Elisa from Cinque Candle Co, as well as cookies by Cookie’s by Julia, a handwritten note to each and of course a celebratory bottle of ‘Pink’ (See below for more pics).
We spent the afternoon at a gorgeous little rooftop bar in Melbourne called ‘Madame Brussels‘, an old favourite of mine when I had a social life! Madame Brussels is perfect for this kind of soiree as the vintage garden party theme and decor of the venue speaks for itself – not to mention the lovely staff who tote around in retro tennis attire!
They also play host to little garden parties for groups up to 30 each weekend, so all you need to do it book a table and a set price per head gets you an abundance of nibbles and cocktails (or mocktails if need be)! Although I do recommend booking well in advance though because it was booked out!
I have popped up some photos of the day below! Oh and for those who have asked my pink dress was from Kookai, like everything I wear during pregnancy!
