As you guys would know, we love a good before and after!!

After 8 years renovating our old home, we have also learned a thing or two about how to have a huge impact without spending heaps of money.

When we bought our new house mid-last year, I knew it needed a few changes to brighten and make it feel ike home. As the previous owners had a lot of dark and almost gothic features in the house – totally NOT my style!

It was obvious right away that we needed to update the window furnishings from the thick black curtains to something grander and light to suit the house and let the beautiful light it, it so desperately was crying for!!

Living regionally, we are more limited in options. And while there are many online only store popping up. I wasn’t confident enough in both meausring myself and picking the right thing.

Thankfully, Dollar Curtains & Blinds had a store not far from us. And during our wait time for production actually openned a store right in my home town!!

Measure & Quote

Not only do DC&B offer free measures and quotes, but they gave some invaluable styling and a fabric advice.

We went through dozens of colours, fabrics and finishings and walked around to try and pick the perfect match for the rest of the home.

They also gave us really great advice of how to hang and finish the looks. Which would have been impossibl to do online just looking at photos.

The whole process took over an hour, and great care and details went into making sure these were the perfect options for us.

We also opted to get automated blinds in two of our rooms that had over three-meter windows to add to the grand feel of them and compliment our other Home Automation in the home.

Installation

The instal was super quick and easy!

The installer came out and was able to pop everything up within an hour or so!!

I was honestly so blown away even when the first curtain and sheer went up as to how much of a difference it made. It instantly made the rooms feel bigger and diffused the light beautifully throughout the rooms.

It also allowed so much more light in, really lifting the whole mood of the house. Making it feel like home <3

John, our installer, was rerally lovely and gave some great tips and advice for using and caring for our new curtains and sheers. And made sure to leave all details in case we ever needed any help!

And it was now time to set up our automation…

Home Automation/Motorisation

I am so glad we took the advice to get the motorisation on our curtains. The software they use has been really easy to integrate into our existing Google Home and so much fun creating sequences we use daily.

I will note, that we were required to get the Molex cables installed professionally but an electrician. And make sure you get them to actually bring them through the ceiling with a dome covering (ours did not so we had to get them back).

Before & Afters

As you can see, the new window furnishings absolutely changed the whole feel and astheric of the house.

With just this one update, I feel it makde this space feel like home. And we’ve not had to do too many other changes since after this epic facelift.

We absolutely cannot recommend the team at DC&B in both Warragul & Pakenham. And will absolutely be using them when we finally get to the other rooms of the house 🙂
