Universal Studios Japan is one of the busiest theme parks in the world, and tickets often sell out, especially during peak seasons like summer, Christmas, Halloween, and school holidays. If you don’t want to risk arriving at the park only to find it at capacity, it’s best to buy your tickets in advance.
💡 Pro Tip: Express Passes are limited and can sell out weeks in advance, so book early to secure one!
Klook.comSuper Nintendo World, including the new Donkey Kong Country, is one of the newest and biggest highlights of USJ, but you can’t just walk in whenever you want. Due to its popularity, visitors need a timed entry ticket to access the area.
💡 Pro Tip: These free entry slots run out FAST (sometimes within an hour of park opening), so make this your first priority as soon as you enter the park.
USJ gates often open earlier than the official time, especially on busy days. Arriving at least 60–90 minutes before opening gives you a head start to get some of the more popular rides done, without huge lines!! Also gives you a chance to get a timed entry ticket for Super Nintendo World (if needed).
Some of USJ’s rides offer single rider lines, which can drastically cut your wait time if you don’t mind riding separately from your group. Some rides with Single Rider include: Mine Cart Madness, Koopas Challange, Flying Dinosaur, Forbidden Journey, and Hollywood Dream.
💡 Pro Tip: If you’re a Harry Potter fan, head straight to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter first thing in the morning before it gets packed for good phoots ops without a crowd!!
A full day at the park means heavy phone usage – from using the app to check ride wait times to mobile payments and taking photos. My phone was almost flat by lunch, and I needed to charge it!!
I suggest having an e-sim for your trip, as your overseas data may not work in Japan. My last trip, it stopped qworking and I had to find wi-di before I could load on an e-sim – leaving me without maps for the day!
💡 Pro Tip: You can buy an eSIM on Klook before your trip for seamless connectivity throughout Japan! You can use my discount code OLIVIAWHITEKLOOK for extra savings!
The official USJ app provides real-time updates and park info at your fingertips. I highly suggest downloading before your dat at the park!
